There is strength in community and I am so very proud and thankful for the community that we have built. I am not ashamed to ask for help although our society categorizes this as weakness. No Photography Services will be exchanged for a donation on gofundme.) Please inquire with me separately about this. (THIS IS A SEPARATE OPTION NOT LINKED TO THIS GOFUNDME. If you've been thinking about booking a photo session with me, all of the funds I earn (except for taxes) will be going towards my dad's procedures. Share our gofundme page on your social media to spread the word If you'd like to help us, we'd be overjoyed if you could even do one of the following: At this moment, since we don't have enough funds our goal is to raise $5,000. As undocumented individuals leave the realm of higher education, there. The association’s main goal is to create a sense of community and support for faculty and staff who identify this way, explains Xue. Simply put, we do not have enough funds to cover the dental work that needs to be done, so I am turning to my community. CSUF is the first campus in California to establish a faculty and staff association for currently and formerly undocumented Titans. It is hard to predict when everything will be done because they are not sure what they will find once they start the implantation process.ĭue to these unexpected costs, my brother and I are pooling all of our financial resources to go towards the dental procedures needed. The entire payment must be paid off in the next few months, whenever his last procedure is. This entire process is $11,600 at the minimum, provided that he does not need additional work. He needs 2 dental implants which are $4000 each, a set of partial dentures which are $3600, and multiple teeth extracted. He needs extensive dental work done so that he can chew his food properly without pain. It is a very specific kind of pain to watch your own parent struggle to chew. He's always tried to protect us by never showing how much pain he was in until now. Our dad has already spent almost half of his life with his most important teeth missing. Unfortunately, my dad's dental health is rapidly declining and he has very few teeth left, all of them at the front of his mouth which has made it painful and difficult to eat. But we all know that time is the only constant in this journey we call life. When I was younger, I thought my parents would never get old. My dad has always supported our dreams - he always told us that we could be whatever we wanted to be. My parents always gave and gave and never asked us for anything in return, a truly unconditional love.

My parents are both first-generation immigrants who have worked hard their entire lives (mostly doing labor in restaurants) to make sure that my brother and I always had everything we needed to succeed-providing for my brother to play water polo and for me to be in the marching band all 4 years of high school.

Growing up, my dad always put our family's needs before his in everything, from giving my brother and I the tastiest pieces of steamed fish to buying me the entire Harry Potter Series in hardback because he knew how much I loved to read (even if it meant spending the last few dollars of his paycheck).
